Seventy miles west of Key West lies the Dry Tortuga Islands. Nestled among spectacular coral reefs, shipwrecks and sandy beaches lies Fort Jefferson, America's foremost example of 19th century coastal defense.
Snorkel among myriads of brilliant tropical fish, and spot huge sea turtles. A phenomenal display of bird life is available during season, with as many as 150 varieties spotted annually. These include Tropic birds, boobies, Frigate birds, and the Sooty and Noddy Terns nesting by the thousand.

Day trips (8 a.m. to 7 p.m.) $85 for adults, $75 for Seniors 65 years and over, and $45 for children 16 years and under.
Up to 14 days, no camping charges, passage by either ferry or plane.

One scuba company does 3-day charters taking up to eight people at $1,200 per day.
Scheduled 2 & 3 day fishing trips are available November through April, priced $175 to $200 approximately.
Private charter, taking up to 6 people, available throughout the year.
Price range $600 to $800 per day - generally 3 day trips.
